How to conjugate Italian verb ‘arrivare’ – Commonly Used Words

Arrivare is a regular, first conjugation verb that means to arrive, to reach, to succeed, to happen.

Regular -areverbs are characterised by having the endings -o, -i, -a, -iamo, -ate, and -ano in present tense indicativo, and the endings -vo, -vi, -va, -vamo, -vate, -vano in the imperfect tense.

As is common for -are verbs, the past participle of arrivare has got the ending -ato, making it arrivato. It uses the auxiliary verb essere in compound forms.

  • Sei arrivato già a Milano? (Are you arrived in Milan yet?)

Arrivare is an intransitive verb, meaning it does not take a direct object. Moreover, this is a very versatile verb, that can be used to express several meanings. Let’s have a look at the following examples:
